Why Can't It Be The 60's

Whether it is movies set in the 60's or images of the early 60's, there is an undeniable amount of edge that the normal man portrays while in the most formal of outfits.  The boys were suave; the men were dapper.  And the women...what I can say about women is only an attempt at describing their unbelievable, indescribable beauty.  The 60's has always been an inspiration for me from Jean-Luc Godard to Mad Men, from Marcello Mastroianni to Tom Palumbo and now including C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) and Tom Ford's A Single Man.

Winter Inspiration

With Winter, seemingly, just around the corner and the weather starting to get that little bit of chill I thought it no better time than to start getting my sweater inspirations up and going. Will be roaming the local thrift stores, flea markets -- those that are still up and running, and clothing stores for anything that can make me look this cool. As you can tell the letterman sweater is a huge hit for this season in my eyes and there is no better place to get once than the Make Your Own section of Rugby. If your in New York, Chicago, Northern California, Texas, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, or Washington DC stop by a shop and get made or if your in the 21st century hop onto Rugby.com and do it there.

Inspiring Work

Typically you will find a post here and there about people that inspire me to be better and do better, always striving to take that one step forward. Whether it be a better person, a more intelligent person, a more capable person or whatever it may be. Just today, I had someone inspire me in their ability to reach out to another when least expected after someone who shall remain nameless decided to be an asshole to me for only trying to be nice. That nice and inspiring person being Foster Huntington of A Restless Transplant (Thanks!). And then there are those who don't (If you follow me on Twitter you might understand this a little more).

But then there is the work that others have done that inspire me to do a better job at what ever it is I am trying to do. My favorite of them being the Studley Tool Chest built by a piano repair man to help repair piano. Most likely built out of selvedge piano parts it is finely built, like a piano, using beautiful wood parts and mother of pearl.

After the jump are a few pictures of those certain items. Some built today and others built in the past. But the craftsmanship is immaculate and done with precise care. Enjoy.
